Cloud Strategy

We all know that the cloud is what everyone has been talking about for years. The real question that needs to be asked is should you? If determined that you should, what services should you leverage? Having expertise available is invaluable as there are a few things to consider. 

1. DATA PROTECTION - Many businesses completely rely on their service provider's strategy to protect their data or, even worse, have no protection at all.  The assumption is that if it’s in the cloud that it will be protected from hacks and disasters, a robust recovery plan will be in place, and everything will be ok in a few hours.  This may or may not be the case, but it doesn’t change the fact that your data is your responsibility. If it’s critical to you, steps must be taken to ensure its protection and integrity. 
2.  DATA SOVEREIGNTY -  Data Sovereignty means that data is subject to the laws and regulations of the geographic location where that data is collected and processed. Data sovereignty is a country-specific requirement that data must remain within the borders of the jurisdiction where it originated. Making sure you are in compliance is a must. 
3.  DATA SECURITY -  Choosing a Cloud Service Provider should include how your data is stored and how it is encrypted. Service and Organizational Controls attestation and compliance is a good indicator that your security and privacy needs will be met.
